Dear Friend of CHARIAD:

The fall has been a sailing blow out for the mighty CHARIAD. Since I returned from my Lewis & Clark Trail of Discovery adventure, we have only raced once. Weather has been terrible.

In New England, the changing of the seasons is a time of sadness – end of sailing season – and a time of joy – the glory of fall. Today, we are moving the boat from Marblehead to her winter home in Beverly, MA. The change of seasons changes our lives.

I was at a conference in Burlington, VT, last week. The fall colors were so astonishing on my drive back that I had to capture one image to remember.

CHARIAD Activities – Fun Gatherings of Friends

The Friends of CHARIAD will be gathering for a party Saturday November 19 at the home of Richard Sides in Marblehead. Please put the date on your calendar.

I am planning to put together a short collection of pictures from my L & C trip and show them at the party. My travel log will be a side show to just having fun together, but I hope you will find it interesting.

The Marblehead racing awards night is Wednesday November 2 at the Boston Yacht Club in Marblehead. Come join the racing crew and celebrate our very successful racing season. The boat will be getting a lot of hardware in recognition of the hard work and dedication of the crew over the whole season. 7 PM at the BYC – come join the fun.

I Need a Favor

You saw that we launched the Friends of CHARIAD page on Facebook. Joining the Friends on Facebook is by far the fastest way to follow what the crew and boat are doing. If you have not done so, go to Friends of CHARIAD and just ask to join. That’s it and you will be part of the in crowd. 60 Friends have joined since the launch this summer.

I need your help with another launch. LinkedIn has set up a new platform that is separate from your personal profile where companies or consultants – I am essentially a consultant in my CEO advisory and board of director work – can post short updates about the company. I am launching a “company page” for my practice called Rick Williams – Board Member & CEO Advisor.

Before the launch goes public, I want to get some FOLLOWERS for the new page. Who can I go to but my friends and ask you to be the first Followers of my new LinkedIn page. All you have to do is go the LinkedIn Page and click FOLLOW in the up right corner of the page.

If a number of you become the pioneer Followers, someone coming to the page who does not have the personal connection you do will not be asking themselves why they should be the first person to follow this guy who has no other followers.

Please help me with this launch. If you do, I will buy you a drink at the Friends of CHARIAD party at Richard’s house. And you will get occasional interesting very short pieces on what is happening in business and technology with a leadership point of view.

My best,

Rick
